The main characters are grandma, Travis, Jake, Kacey, and Char. Grandma is a “hoot,” devious, speaks her mind about any topic, and is out to get her way in match making. Grandma escorts Jake to prepare for the wedding, in 2 weeks, and it happens that Char and her sister are on the same plane. Char is bitter towards Jake for multiple reasons and Jake is oblivious to that since he is a multimillion dollar playboy about to inherit a company. There are a couple incidents on the plane that will start you laughing.
Crazy Grandma insists Jake and Char must complete her list of to-dos for the wedding. Constantly Char and Jake are poking stabs at each other to make the other mad or embarrass the other which will make you laugh. After Jake learns that Char parents forgot her birthday again, he and his grandma try to give her the best birthday party. What is actually going on between Jake and Char? Where does the wager come in and who is the wager between? I about died laughing when the two pick up the wedding cake topper and get grandma’s gift for the wedding.
Grandma flies home to Titus Abbey the night before Jake and Char fly home which is 1 week prior to the wedding. A friend of Travis meets Jake and Char at the airport since he is to be hooked up with Char at the wedding. Grandma has everything planned out so you will have to read the book to see what happens and about the “mating dance.”
Great book! I started the book and got so involved with grandma that I was laughing and crying throughout so I read the book in 1 day.

This book was amazing!!! Everyone wants a Grandma Nadine after it! The meddling, the manipulating, it was all well played. This is #2 in The Bet series and I was hesitant to get too excited for a book about Jake because he was such a selfish bastard in the first one but since I saw a twinkling of a heart and the teasers for this one told me he just might be able to change, I gave it a chance. I am oh so glad I did, too!

So the story... in The Bet #1 Jake manipulates his childhood best friend Kacey into faking an engagement with him to please his family due to his playboy ways being posted all throughout the tabloids. He has no idea his brother Travis has been in love with her forever but inevitably, Travis, the good-looking, loving, caring, "Satan" of her childhood wins the girl.

In the beginning of this book, Grandma Nadine, with the best intentions, sets out to "ruin" Jake. She first demotes him from CEO of her company and then fires him to try to help him gain sight of his life. Thus begins the meddling. Well, continues the meddling full speed ahead. ;)

Rachel Van Dyken is truly talented in engaging her readers to a truly beautiful story. There are so many laughs and some heart catching moments and so many smiles all rolled into this delicious 299 page book.
