Just an additional note. There's both an American version and an British version. The British version of course uses English terminology such as "I'll tell my mummy" in place of mommy. There are several differences along this line.
Purchased for my Granddaughter as she love to read about pirates. Reading is a pastime that has been valued by our family and past down from generation to generation as an important activity. This was a great addition to her library and introduces a multimedia approach to reading. She loves it!
"Night Pirates" is about a red headed little boy kidnapped by little girl pirates and taken on a big adventure. Just too cute! I purchased this for my Grandson, who happens to have red hair and also happens to have 3 older sisters! The truly exciting part is that this title is out of print and I've searched for an affordable copy for several months. Was so happy to find it, brand new, on !
Read this book to both of my kids...they loved it and I loved reading like a pirate
This is a sweet story with a surprise twist...my daughters loved the rough and tough girl pirates...a nice change from princesses and damsels in distress. My daughter wanted a book to dress up with for character day and this was her first choice. Her review of the book (6 year old) is as follows "I love this book!!!!! I dressed up like the night pirates. It is a really funny story. This is my favorite book!"
Being parents who love all thing pirates, my husband and I were so happy to find a book that shows that girls can be pirates too!! This is such a cute book. The illustrations are beautiful, the books flows easily and the story is cute in a non-violent pirate way. The third and fourth pages are printed so that you have to turn the book sideways to read them, which was a bit awkward at first. Our little girl (19 months) has to have this book read to her every night before bed and she has even begun to memorize parts of it. The story is simple; little girl pirates steal the front of Tom's house to disguise their pirate ship in order to sneak up on the grown up pirates and steal their treasure. Tom is allowed to join their crew and goes on their adventure to return safely home very tired. I would recommend this book to any parent.
I love this book and have bought several copies for friends as well as owning a copy myself. The illustrations are sumptuous and offer interesting details and humour. The story is fun, inventive and uses great vocabulary. The fact that the pirates are girls and that little Tom has to beg to be allowed to come along on the adventure provides a stereo type busting story line.
