I have a lot of books that cover counting and I like them quite a lot, however, NONE of those books go past 10 or if they do, they jumps to 20 and then counts by 10's. So, I bought this book simply because is counted up to 12. To be honest through, I wish this book went all the way up to 20 because 10-20 is tricky for little ones (it does not follow the pattern found in 1-9 nor in 20-99.) The family also seems to be Asian (or at least similar enough that it can pass as such) and therefore the book adds some diversity.

EXCELLENT BOOK
It was not the quality I expected. And it was too young for my 4 year old granddaughter
I purchased this book as part of a grant on gardening. I wanted to add literacy to the process of raising our own vegetables. It is a great counting book as well and at the end they put a salad together....something children don't always like.
Bought this for my 3-year-old grandson - he loved it!
My 3 1/2 year old daughter loves to find the hidden numbers in each picture. She wants to read this book over and over. We first found it at our library. When it was time to return it she asked if we could "own' it. I knew it was a winner!
I know my nieces band nephews will enjoy looking at this book. They love gardening and the bright illustrations will hold their attention. Counting
the pieces of vegetables is a clever way to learn their numbers.
